Why are People so Hard on Each Other?

life on the internet can be very tough!

Since the economic crises, there seem to be many more new people ready to join the online business community. It has made me think a lot about what people really expect from an internet business. Statistics say that very few of them will stay long enough to find a business that actually works to make them some money. The vast majority will soon pack up and go back to the real world, both poorer and wiser.

Very few of these people, if any, realize that there are places they can go to learn the skills that are necessary to become a successful internet marketer, even for free sometimes. But these are not the websites that jump out at you when you open your inbox. These are also not the websites that attract new people with big dreams. By the time a newcomer finally understands that the right home based business, is one which will teach them what they need to know and will show them how to make money while they learn. By the time they find that business, they are usually close to burn out, probably broke and ready to give up on the dream.

Most people who join the internet business community expect to make some quick money. They do not want to hear that the internet is a tough world and that without learning all the right skills, you are not going to succeed. People with great expectations do not want their hopes dashed by anyone, and they certainly don’t want to be told they have to study.

This maybe a dangerously naïve attitude, but it shouldn’t become an open invitation to ruthless marketers to move in for the kill. Surely they too were once new to the internet and should feel some sense of compassion.

So here we are, on one hand you have all these new, enthusiastic people who believe they are about to realize their dream with a brand new expensive, internet worldwide home based business opportunity. They see it as an answer to all their problems. On the other hand you have the hungry marketers who sell the worthless product, who sees only a bonanza of easy pickings, most will reason that these people will get ripped off by somebody else anyway, so that makes it ok. The few will convince themselves that their product really is useful. Why else would people buy it?

New people who come to the internet to make their fortune with a new home based business opportunity, seldom look for a place to learn how to do that. Not even for free. It’s not that they don’t know where to look, they don’t even know why they need to look. Even if they did they wouldn’t know what to ask for or where to direct their questions. There is no information booth on the internet.

All they know is that they need something very clever to sell and it must be desirable enough to make a lot of people want to buy it. So they make the classic error of a newbie. They choose the most irresistible website with the most desirable graphics and the biggest promises. They reckon that since it proves to be irresistible to them it will be equally irresistible to everyone else. So they are ready to pay money they can’t afford to buy a product they don’t understand and to make matters worse, they have no idea where or how to sell it.

So what is the result? A new expensive product, which has a shiny irresistible website. It has pictures of the dream car and the dream house and buckets of dollar bills being carelessly tossed in the air like confetti. That was the product expected to provide a bright new future. Now it sits, buried in a folder, somewhere on a hard drive, never to be seen again.

It’s understandable that people are not looking for places to learn till they realize which questions to ask. They are not likely to find any questions in an empty worldwide home business shrouded in smoke and mirrors. At least not until they have spent their money and had a good look at the product. But often, before that, they will spend another small fortune advertising the product at all the obvious places like Google and Yahoo, with no idea what PPC means and what the ads will cost them.

By then they should definitely realize they have made a mistake and should either quit the internet or start learning some skills right here.
